########################################################################### # # Rules for connection of computer equipment to wired network # at the Department of Physics and Astronomy (IFA) # and at The Svedberg Laboratory (TSL) # # Update history # 04-aug-2010 # ############################################################################ * The person who is going to connect computer(s) or other equipment to the wired network at IFA or TSL has to announce MAC address(es) of the computer(s), using one of the following alternatives: - send an e-mail to system@fysast.uu.se or system@tsl.uu.se or - call one of the following persons: Ib Kôersner, phone +46 18 471 3053 Teresa Kupsc, phone +46 18 471 3109 Bertil Pettersson, phone +46 18 471 5980 Peter Larsson, phone +46 18 471 3580 or - (For users of TSL irradiation facilities): announce the MAC address(es) in the Run Rules Form available at http://www.tsl.uu.se/documents/run_rules_short.txt and send the Run Rules Form to beams@tsl.uu.se . NOTE: a computer without announced MAC address will not obtain a valid IP-number and thus will not have wired internet connectivity. * All computers have to have patched operative system and have antivirus software with updated virus definitions. It is not allowed to connect infected computers to the network. * Use DHCP to obtain an IP-number when connecting to the wired network at TSL, the Divisions of Nuclear- (KP), High-Energy- (HEF) or Applied Nuclear Physics (TK). * The person or the visiting team who needs help of the System Administration group (e.g. with setting up VPN) should contact the group at least one week in advance by sending an e-mail to system@fysast.uu.se or system@tsl.uu.se .
